My name is Box. Eee Box

Remember the not even launched Eee Box? A gentleman with nice outfit, white skin, shiny smile?

Sure you remember the mini PC that gets to complete the Eee line of products. Well, it’s almost official: you’ll get Atomic power and low wattage. The Intel Atom N270 processor clocked at 1.6GHz is coupled with 512 MB - 2 GB of RAM to give enough power for office tasks and basic entertainment (movies, music). And that’s it, no dedicated graphic card, no DVD reader/writer (but a multicard reader).

Seems to me that the specs are in par with the ones of the Eee 901, which is fair enough but lets you wanting more. Read the rest of this entry »

ASUS announces Eee Monitor

Computex, Taipei Grand Hotel. Several slides presented by Asus give a glimpse of the future. Among  the things to come, the Eee Monitor, an all in one computer built into a LCD screen. Here are some pictures courtesy of PC World:

Some would say that the Eee Monitor is a iMac clone, the similarities being undeniable. Here is a larger picture showing the Eee Monitor in his predicted environment:

Small price, good bargain for Eee Monitor

The launch date might be September with an estimated price tag of $499. That’s less than half the price of an iMac or the future contenders Dell XPS One or Gateway One. The configuration hasn’t been made public, but rumors say that the new all-in-one Eee will display images on an 19 or 21″ LCD and will have a Tv tuner included. Some even speculate that the core of this machine is the Intel Shelton platform.
